Dia menceritakan peristiwa yang tak mungkin hilang dari ingatannya selama masih hidup. Semua itu berawal saat tahun 2012 silam.
Kala itu, dia terjerat penawaran manis dari seorang marketing sebuah perbankan yang menawarkan pinjaman yang prosesnya cukup mudah.
Setelah beberapa kali bertemu dengan marketing tersebut, akhirnya dia memutuskan meminjam uang untuk kepentingan usaha yang tengah digelutinya.
“Awalnya ada marketing yang datang menawarkan pinjaman dengan proses cepat dan mudah. Meski semula tidak tertarik, namun karena sering ditawari akhirnya saya kepincut,” ujarnya.
Sofyan mengajukan pinjaman sebesar Rp120 juta. Dalam perjanjian dengan pihak bank, Sofyan diberi masa tenor selama lima tahun. Dalam perjanjian itu juga disebutkan nominal cicilan yang harus dibayar Sofyan yakni Rp3.650.000 per bulannya.
Sebagai jaminan atas pinjamannya, Sofyan menyerahkan sertifikat rumahnya. Tahun pertama, dan kedua pembayaran cicilan berlangsung lancar.
Memasuki tahun ketiga, usaha yang ditekuni Sofyan kurang menguntungkan sehingga berimbas terhadap upayanya membayar ke bank. Akhirnya pembayaran cicilan juga mulai tersendat.
Kendati begitu, Sofyan tetap berusaha membayar kewajibannya ke pihak bank. Dia juga berusaha meminta keringanan kepada pihak bank untuk memperpanjang masa tenor hingga 9 tahun.
“Karena usaha saya kurang bagus, pembayaran memang sempat tersendat. Kemudian saya minta agar ada keringanan dalam jangka waktu mencicil. Dan permintaan itu disetujui hingga ada keringanan sampai 2019 untuk melunasi cicilan,” katanya.
Namun mendadak dia mendapat surat panggilan dari bank yang isinya pemberitahuan terkait ada tunggakan selama lima bulan yang belum dibayar. Dia kemudian berangkat ke bank untuk menyelesaikannya.
“Jumlah uang cicilan yang sudah saya bayar hampir mencapai Rp107 juta dari pinjaman Rp120 juta. Untuk melunasinya, saya sempat menawarkan rumah ke orang lain. Ada yang menawar Rp800 jutaan.
Tapi, saya tidak bisa menjual rumah lantaran sudah dilelang oleh bank. Saya hanya berharap agar eksekusi yang akan dilakukan ditunda, dan diberi kesempatan menjual rumah untuk melunasi utang. Hanya itu permintaan saya,” harapnya.
